A-class motorhomes are larger than coachbuilt motorhomes and therefore heavier – over 3.5-tonnes. Therefore you will require additional testing to achieve the necessary higher category on your standard UK driving licence. This is known as the C1, and attaining it will include a practical test, a three-part theory test, the completion of paperwork and various legal requirements (including a medical examination by your GP).
